March 16, 2012 – Sooo Pinoy Food Tour Day 5 in Boracay – Previous Post : Ambassador in Paradise Restaurant Boracay.
Day 5, last day of Sooo Pinoy Food Tour Boracay leg. Our call time was at 6am and our first stop was at White Cafe or Astoria Resort for breakfast. Before serving the main dish, they offered a refreshing Pandan juice made with Palawan Honey, Vanilla, Kalamansi and a Lemon Garnish.
Kare-Kare
Their version of Kare-Kare and Sinigang na Baboy in modern plating was served to us. Kare-Kare is usually served during fiesta but now this dish is available in almost every Pinoy Restaurants. Kare-kare is Kapampangan stew made from peanut sauce with petchay tagalog, eggplant, banana blossoms, baguio beans, stewed oxtail, beef, and occasionally offal or tripe. Kare-kare will not be complete without bagoong (shrimp paste) but I prefer to add chili oil and calamansi.
Sinigang na Baboy
Their Sinigang na Baboy is also good, its made from liempo that is slow-cooked to tenderness and boiled with batwan (souring agent) garnished with vegetables like Sitaw, Pechay, Cabbage and Eggplant.
Pandan Juice
Since we visited the restaurant during breakfast time, they also invited us to enjoy their Breakfast Buffet. Choices of Beef Tapa, Pork Adobo, Crispy Danggit, Sausages, fried and steamed rice, bread, desserts and my favorite Champorado – a chocolate flavored sticky rice porridge.
I love their Hot Chocolate made from pure and locally produced tablea. White Cafe Breakfast is pure Love:)
